Purple Heart

Who is eligible for this plate? Any owner of a motor vehicle who has received a purple heart medal Relevant KRS: KRS186.041 Steps Required: Provide the County Clerk with written evidence from the United States Veterans Administration or any other appropriate federal agency stating that the applicant is a recipient of a Purple Heart Medal. Initial Cost and Cost each time a new plate is issued: $20.00 Annual Renewal Cost: $15.00 Decal Expires: Customer's Birth Month Remarks: This plate may be issued to any 6,000 lb. commercial truck or passenger vehicle owned, leased or provided by an employer. If the purple heart recipient also qualifies as a disabled veteran (no fee) he may receive either a Purple Heart or a disable license plate for no fee. The initial cost includes $5.00 which goes to the Veterans Trust Fund. A minimum of $5.00 may be donated to the Veterans Trust Fund at the time of renewal. This type of plate is issued every five years, and will be replaced in the year 2003 and every 5th year after.
