Who is eligible for this plate? Any owner of a motor vehicle required to be registered under KRS186.050 (1) passenger or (3) (A) 6,000 lb. commercial vehicles, except taxi cabs and airport limousines. Relevant KRS: KRS186.18651 Steps Required: If the vehicle has a "regular" registration plate, that plate must be turned in to the County Clerk. Initial Cost and Cost each time a new plate is issued: $50.00 Annual Renewal Cost: $25.00 Decal Expires: Customer's Birth Month Remarks: This plate may be issued to any 6,000 lb. commercial or passenger vehicle owned, leased, or provided by an employer. $10.00 of the initial and renewal of registration goes to the general scholarship fund of the particular College. This type of plate is issued every five years, and will be replaced in the year 2008 and every 5th year after.
